Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family-related matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles the post-divorce and enforcement of issues such as step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, as well as commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes and also court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid court proceedings and litigation.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. In 2013, she graduated, and excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, deepening her understanding of the local legal landscape. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at hands of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce, custody, child support and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with a commitment to providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
